What is the filter element of Y strainer?

The filter element of a Y strainer is the part of the strainer that actually filters the fluid. It is typically a mesh or screen that is tightly woven to trap solid particles that are larger than the openings in the mesh.

The filter element is located inside the body of the Y strainer, in the branch of the Y. The fluid enters the strainer through the inlet and flows through the filter element, which traps any solid particles that are larger than the mesh openings. The clean fluid then exits the strainer through the outlet.

The filter element can be made from of materials stainless steel 304 , 304L , 316,316L depending on the application. The size of the mesh openings can also vary depending on the requirements of the application. A smaller mesh opening will trap smaller particles but may also cause more pressure drop across the strainer, while a larger mesh opening will allow more flow but may not trap smaller particles.
